Education Workshops

Where A Student’s Voice is Heard

Length of Workshop: 3 hours
Age Group: Middle School - University

This workshop covers the basic elements of what it takes to tell a story. Youth will gain confidence in using their voice to not only empower themselves but also empowering others. Story ideas include:

  • Tell us a time when you felt an emotion, either doubled over in laughter, bursting into tears or over-the-moon excited.

  • Tell us a time when you did something you never thought you’d do.

  • In the movie of your life, what’s the one scene you’ll never forget?

Youth deserve to be understood, respected and celebrated for who they are within educational spaces. Bullying, racism and oppression don’t have to have the last word.

Bridging the Divide

Length of Workshop: 3-5 hours
Age Group: Middle School - University

This workshop is a trust-fall verbal exercise where, through story, both the teacher and the student break down the invisible barriers, inviting greater understanding and empathy while also transforming the traditions of hierarchal systems into a community-built classroom. The vulnerability of sharing your own story will break the blocks you’ve seen, transforming your classroom into creative and hospitable spaces.

Understanding how to connect with and educate students can be a daunting task. This workshop is designed to help students and educators understand one another through story-telling.
